Mumbai Darshan is a full day in the city with your own car and driver, built on the 8-hour/80 km local package. There is no fixed itinerary and no tour bus: you decide where to go, how long to stay, and when to stop for vada pav or a proper lunch. The package simply gives you the car for the day.

A route many visitors follow

Within the package, the route is entirely up to you. A popular south-to-north loop looks like this:

  1. Gateway of India at Apollo Bunder in Colaba, early in the day before the crowds build.
  2. Marine Drive, for the sweep of the bay from Nariman Point towards Malabar Hill.
  3. Haji Ali Dargah, reached by a causeway that can go under water at high tide, so check the tide before you plan this stop.
  4. Siddhivinayak Temple at Prabhadevi, which is especially busy on Tuesdays.
  5. Bandra–Worli Sea Link, the bridge across the bay, with Bandra Bandstand after it if you have time.
  6. Juhu Beach for the evening, with street food along the sand.

Other stops that fit in easily include Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Kala Ghoda, the Hanging Gardens at Malabar Hill and the Mahalaxmi Temple.

What is included and what is not

  • A car and driver for up to 8 hours and 80 km, at a fixed fare for the whole car, with 5% GST added at checkout.
  • Extra hours or kilometres, charged at the rate quoted when you book.
  • Entry fees are not included, and opening timings vary by place, so check them before you go.
  • Whether toll, such as on the Sea Link, and parking are included is shown in the fare breakdown before you pay.

Tips for the day

  • Start early. South Mumbai is calmer in the morning, and parking near the Gateway gets harder as the day goes on.
  • Sundays are usually easier for driving around South Mumbai, though the popular spots see more visitors.
  • Staying in Thane or Navi Mumbai? The drive into the city uses up hours and kilometres, so consider the 10-hour/100 km or 12-hour/120 km package instead.
  • Dress modestly for Siddhivinayak and Haji Ali, and carry a scarf.
  • Keep valuables with you whenever you step out of the car.

A sedan suits two to four people, and an Innova or the Tempo Traveller suits a family or a group. To book, choose the 8-hour local package on the booking form, or see more cab options in Mumbai.
