How to Book a Cab in Mumbai Online: One-Way, Outstation, Airport and Local

2 Oct 2026

If you have ever stood on a Mumbai pavement in the rain trying to find a ride, you already know why it pays to book ahead. This guide explains how to book a cab on payal.cab from start to finish, whether you need a one-way drop to Pune, a car for a weekend out of town, an airport run or a car and driver for a few hours around the city. It takes a few minutes, and you see the fare for the whole car before you commit to anything.

Cab booking in Mumbai starts with the trip type

The booking form asks where you are going, and your answer decides which kind of trip you are booking. There are four:

  • One-way: a drop from one city to another, such as Mumbai to Pune or Mumbai to Surat. You pay for your direction only, with no return fare added for the car going back.
  • Round trip (outstation): the same car and driver stay with you for the whole trip and bring you home. It is billed per kilometre against a daily minimum distance, plus a driver allowance, and the exact figures appear before you pay.
  • Airport transfer: to or from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (BOM), with Terminal 1 at Santacruz and Terminal 2 at Sahar, or Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMI) near Ulwe and Panvel.
  • Local hourly hire: a car and driver in the city for 4, 6, 8, 10 or 12 hours, each with a matching kilometre allowance, from 4 hours/40 km up to 12 hours/120 km.

Not sure which one fits? If you are coming back the same day or the next, compare a round trip with two separate one-way bookings. Our services page explains each option in more detail.

How to book a cab on payal.cab, step by step

  1. Enter the basics. On the home page booking form, fill in the pickup city and the drop city, or choose a local package or an airport instead. Add the date, the pickup time and your mobile number.
  2. Compare the cars. You will see the cars available for that trip, each with a fixed fare for the whole car. A hatchback and a sedan seat four, the Ertiga seats six, the Innova, Marazzo and Innova Crysta seat six to seven, and the Tempo Traveller seats sixteen.
  3. Choose a car. Pick the one that fits your group and your bags, not just the head count.
  4. Confirm your number. A 4-digit code arrives by SMS. Enter it to confirm the mobile number, which is where your trip messages will go.
  5. Add the pickup address and notes. Give the full address and anything the driver should know: a flight or train number, how many suitcases you have, a landmark near the gate.
  6. Pay. Pay online by UPI. For one-way, local and airport trips you can choose to pay cash to the driver instead.
  7. Get your confirmation. The booking is confirmed, and the driver and car details reach you by SMS before pickup.

Choosing a car: count the bags as well as the people

Seats are the easy part. Luggage is where trips go wrong. As a rough guide:

  • A hatchback suits one or two people with light bags, such as a quick transfer across the city.
  • A sedan has a separate boot and is the usual choice for two to four people with a couple of suitcases.
  • An Ertiga seats six, but with the third row in use there is little room behind it, so six adults with large bags will feel cramped.
  • An Innova, Marazzo or Innova Crysta suits families and longer drives where legroom and bag space matter.
  • A Tempo Traveller is for groups of up to sixteen, such as a wedding party or an office outing.

Carrying something unusual, such as a folded wheelchair or musical instruments? Mention it in the notes, or call us before you pay.

What the fare covers

The fare you see is for the whole car, not per seat, and 5% GST is added at checkout. Toll, parking and state tax work differently from route to route. On some routes they are included and on others they are not, and the fare breakdown tells you which before you pay. Read it once, especially on trips that cross into Gujarat or Goa.

For local hourly hire, the hours and kilometres of your package are part of the fare, and extra hours or kilometres are charged at the rate quoted when you book. For round trips, the per-kilometre rate, the daily minimum distance and the driver allowance are all shown before payment.

Booking by phone or WhatsApp instead

Some trips are easier to talk through, such as a day with several stops or a group with a lot of luggage. You can call or WhatsApp us on +91 70965 05911, or email info@payal.cab. Our office is in Tardeo, Mumbai Central.

Small things that make a Mumbai pickup smoother

  • Give the building, wing and gate. Large housing societies often have more than one gate, and a driver waiting at the wrong one loses time for both of you.
  • Add a landmark. A temple, a bank branch or a well-known shop nearby helps a lot in dense lanes.
  • Allow for peak hours. Weekday mornings and evenings are slow on the Western and Eastern Express Highways and around business districts such as BKC and Lower Parel. For a train or a flight, set the pickup time with a buffer for traffic, not for an empty road.
  • Book outstation trips early. Long weekends and festival holidays are when the roads out of Mumbai are busiest, so it helps to book a few days ahead.

That is the whole process: choose the trip, compare the cars and fares, confirm your number, add the details and pay. If something here does not answer your question, the FAQ page covers the common ones.
