Mumbai to Nashik is about 170 km along the Mumbai–Nashik highway, and the drive usually takes about 3.5 to 4.5 hours. The range is wide for a reason. The road out through Thane and Bhiwandi carries heavy truck traffic, and after that it climbs the Kasara ghat to Igatpuri, a stretch that slows down in heavy monsoon rain and fog. Once you are over the ghat, the run into Nashik is usually steady.
Planning tips: leave early to get past Bhiwandi before the trucks and office traffic build up, and keep motion-sickness tablets handy if anyone in your group needs them on the ghat. If you plan to visit Trimbakeshwar or the Panchavati area as well, mention it when you book so the day can be planned around it.
